So we were told that we wouldn't be training again until February when the spring season starts although, on Sunday an email was sent telling us we started gym the next day. I was sad and happy because I was expecting a bit more time off to sit around eating Cheetos, but one of the targets I set for myself this year was to increase my strength, so I was itching to get in there.
Now though, I kinda wish I never turned up. This was some of the hardest work I had ever been put through . . . Ever. No weights were involved, just core strength. We were doing exercises such as side and front pillars, "Knee Hug Spiderman's" and "Dead Bugs." At times I wonders what kind of sick bastard came up with these things. I wouldn't have minded doing them, its just when some members of the team can't hold there legs in the air for ten seconds when my abs as well as my brain begin to get pissed off.
Our trainer would count from ten down but pause if someone lowered there arm to remove the deadly scorpion from their face. For no reason would we need to drop our arms or legs apparently, which made the exercises and the burn more intense.
We then performed acts like the wheelbarrow run (Which I used to find amusing) fireman's carry and sprinted piggy back rides. This meant by monday evening I couldn't lift my arms to wipe away the tears of pain I was exerting. Monday's Tuesday's Thursday and Fridays are now workout days, I just can't wait for the upcoming weeks! -___-
Apart from Nazi like workout regime's, Halloween has just passed and I celebrated this pointless holiday by dressing up as a Ninja with my roommate Runar, and fellow Englishman Craig Laird. We went to a Halloween party to be welcomed by girls wearing which can only be described as "Nothing." It was a fun night and it just let me know that Americans do it the right way.
I also this Friday experienced by first karaoke bar. A jubilant experience only capped by our rendition of the ever-loved Oasis classic "Wonder Wall." This taste of britain reminded me that I cannot wait to return home for Christmas.
